MECHANICAL DESIGNERS NEEDED

Body Masters Sports Industries has a need for full-time mechanical designers to add to our Research and Development team. His/her primary responsibility would be to operate computer-aided design (CAD) systems and peripheral equipment to generate new designs of strength training equipment to meet company and industry standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Designs new lines of strength training equipment utilizing primarily Solid
    Works with minimal usage of various other CAD programs.

  • In a design team environment, coordinates with other mechanical designers, engineers and manufacturing personnel to develop new products including rough sketches, 3D CAD models, part and assembly genesis and complete bills of materials for prototyping, testing and production of new machines.

  • Analyzes product or equipment specifications and performance requirements to determine mechanical designs in compliance with ASTM and other recognized standards.

  • Makes modifications and improvements to current fitness equipment in production adhering to current engineering policies and procedures.

  • Researches parts specifications with engineering, manufacturing and parts vendors to ensure compatibility with equipment design.


  • QUALIFICATIONS

  • 0-5 years of experience in computer drafting or in a design team environment.

  • Experience using Solid Works a plus, but not required.

  • BS in Industrial Design or comparable training school preferred but not required.

  • Competent computer knowledge of Microsoft Office Software.

  • Ability to read blueprints and engineering drawings.

  • Ability to collaborate with engineering team and shop personnel to ensure successful completion of projects.

  • Attention to detail with emphasis on drawing specifications.

  • Good written and verbal communications skills.

  • Ability to work in a team environment with diverse team members.


  • PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • The physical demands and work environment described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Position typically spends 70% of the time in an office environment and 30% of the time in a manufacturing environment.

  • Position may require need to use hand tools and physically interface with large equipment.

  • On occasion, lifting requirements may be up to 50 lb.
